Hello, readers and fans! Today, I am here to talk about a newly debuted band that I am super excited about, which is Hi-Fi Un!corn. I hope you are as excited as I am to learn about them, so let’s get started.
Hi-Fi Un!corn (하이파이유니콘) formerly Aircraft Carrier (항공모함) is a South Korean-Japanese band under FNC Entertainment with members Kim Hyunyul, Son Kiyoon, Um Taemin, Fukushima Shuto, and Heo Min.
Their name means that they will spread high-quality music with ”pure passion” as a unicorn representing the times.
Their fandom name is Rasido.
Career
Pre-debut: The Idol Band: Boy’s Battle
The group was formed by CNBLUE on February 7th, 2023, during episode 9 of The Idol Band : Boy’s Battle. They used the name 항공모함 (Aircraft Carrier) during the semi-finals before renaming themselves as Hi-Fi Un!corn for the finals. On March 5th, 2023, Hi-Fi Un!corn was announced as the winning team.
Hi-Fi Unicorn opened their social media accounts on April 17th, 2023, as well as announcing their partnership with Unisex Saborino face mask as their campaign model.
2023: Debut with “Over the Rainbow” and “U&I”
On June 5th, 2023, it was announced that the group would debut with the digital single “Over the Rainbow” on June 26th, 2023.
On September 25th, 2023, it was announced that the group will release their second digital single “U&I” on November 29th, 2023.
2024: “ABC Is”
On February 22nd, 2024, it was announced that the group would release their third digital single “ABC is” on March 2nd, 2024.

– His performance during the producer audition was “About Damn Time” by Lizzo.
– During his producer audition he introduced himself as Son Kiyoon who dreams to become the second Lee Jungshin. He said he started playing the bass after watching “I’m a Loner” by CNBLUE and got interested at the way Jungshin does slap bass. At first, he just bought the same bass as him, a Fender bass in 3-tone sunburst color, without knowing how to play but then started learning and enjoying it which started his journey in music.
– He also went to the same school as Jungshin.
– He’s a real Boice, CNBLUE fan, and collects the band’s albums.
– CNBLUE picked him during the producer audition.
– His bass guitar during his producer audition was the Sire Marcus Miller P5 bass guitar in Dakota Red.
– He used CNBLUE Jungshin’s Fodera Emperor 5 Standard Classic bass guitar during the first round and semi-finals. During the finals he used Jungshin’s Fender ‘60s Jazz Bass in sunburst and Moollon J Classic bass guitar in gold sparkle in Radio + Between Us and DoReMiFaSal performances, respectively.
– His hobbies are creating flower arrangements, playing contrabass instruments and studying Japanese.
– He likes flowers, spring time and his dog Leo and dislikes alcohol, cigarettes, coffee and spicy food.

– He completed his military enlistment prior to the competition and was in the military band unit. He was a member of the unit at the same time as Teen Top’s Ricky and BTOB’s Yook Sungjae.

– He is the youngest in his family consisting of his mother, father, sister and brother.
– His performance during the producer audition was “Believer” by Imagine Dragons. He played both the acoustic and electric guitar so that his performance would stand out.
– During his producer audition he introduced himself as Kim Hyunyul who is good at everything except for what he has never done before. He is good at surfing, bowling, cycling, table tennis, volleyball, foot volleyball, drawing, and swimming. When asked what he is best at after guitar playing, he answered drawing. He also practices doing latte art and thinks it is fun especially during the winter time.
– When the show producers asked who he thinks is the most handsome one among the contestants, he said he thinks he is in the top 5.
– N.Flying, KEYTALK and F.T. Island picked him during the producer audition, but he chose to go to N.Flying team.

– During his producer audition, he introduced himself as an insider vocal from America, since he was part of the school choir, soccer team and acted in music productions.
– He can play the acoustic guitar, keyboard, and cello.
– Both Kankaku Piero and F.T. Island picked him during the producer audition, but he chose to go to F.T. Island team.
– CNBLUE’s Yonghwa said he sees himself in Taemin and that he has his DNA.
– His guitar during his producer audition was the Crafter Flame Maple Noble series acoustic guitar in Purple.
– He used Yonghwa’s PRS private stock acoustic guitar and custom blue mic during the semi-finals and finals.

– He is from Kumamoto Prefecture, Japan.
– He managed to reach the semifinals of a high school flower boy contest in Japan.
– His performance during the producer audition was “366 Days” by Shimizu Shota ft. HY. It was also the first song he performed in front of people during his first year of high school, he explained that the song was a turning point that made him decide that this is what he wanted to do.
– When asked why he wasn’t already in a famous company as a trainee, he answered that he liked singing as a child but had a hard time when his voice started to change. During that time, he listened to a lot of songs that gave him strength and made him realize that he really liked singing again.
– When he saw the video for “Love Poem” by IU, he aspired to sing like that too and wanted to go to South Korea to learn more which is why he decided to join the program.

Facts
– His performance during the producer audition was “Boy” by Charlie Puth.
– During his producer audition he introduced himself as 18 year old “born-to-be drummer” Heo Min. He started copying his father and playing when he was 5 years old, but only officially started playing the drums during his second year of middle school.
– When asked why he introduced himself that way, he explained that his father has been playing the drums since high school and now runs a drum academy. Due to his father’s influence, he’s been exposed to music even when his mother was still carrying him in the womb. He also picked the drumsticks during his first birthday party, a Korean tradition where a baby chooses an item that could potentially be their future profession.
– CNBLUE’s Yonghwa said that Heo Min reminds him of fellow member Kang Minhyuk during their early debut days.
– He and Minhyuk also have a similar background of having fathers who are drum teachers and learning from them.
– He likes N.Flying’s drummer Kim Jaehyun because of his facial expressions and energy, and vocalist Yoo Hweseung because his vocals make songs sound catchy.
